Rapaport provides a wide assortment of services and products to clients from more than 110countries.In India it has offices in Mumbai and Surat. Bhojani said that the Internet search on mobile in the past three years has seen an increase of 30 percent and this has resulted in tremendous rise in online buying and selling.

Bhojani said Internet has become the primary source of diamond price and market information. Listing of diamonds for sale online draws larger customer attention and the customers look for such information before making his mind on what to buy and for what price.

“Your business depends on buying and selling and the Internet has become a very strong medium for buying and selling. The onlineinformation helps not only the buyer, who often overpay or the seller who often undersell. The online provide the access to real time diamond pricing. Online one  can get the actual asking prices for hundreds and thousands of diamonds in the market and also discounts and premiums” said Bhojani

Bhojani said unless the buyer or the seller is strong online he would not be able to get a perfect deal.

“Online one can directly deal with the sellers and no middleman is involved and online it’s easier to build relationship. Adopting online mode would see the customer base expand. The diamond customers are increasing and online marketing will add new customers. One can provide free information about inventories and prices  through the online mode. Online also helps connect with the like-minded professionals and build long term relationship. This is the reasons why net is increasing become the strong medium for buying and selling” added Bhojani.

Bhojani said globalization and shifting markets has impacted social values, demographics, economics and technology and social media which has impacted the society has also changed the way the business is to be done.

“E commerce first impacted and now it’s e commerce that has become fashionable. Create a brand that is recognizable and even in-store sales are influenced by online and Internet is the cheapest way to leverage a luxury brand. There is an increasing tendency to advertise the product online as it’s not only at zero cost, but also have high and deep reach” added Bhojani.

INDIA

By Prakash Bhandari

Jaipur:

The Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) has grown from strength to strength. The show which has different themes will have ‘Diamond Jewellery – Jaipur Adds Colour to It’ as the theme this time. The theme reflects the favor-able trends towards diamonds and diamond jewelry. The preparations for this B2B andB2C show at Hotel Raj Mahal Palace here from December 22 to 25 are in full swing. The JJS convenor, Vimal Chand Surana explained that that every two years JJS has anew theme which reflects the prowess of Jaipur in that particular area. Which is why in the past 10 years the themes have been related to emerald, tanzanite and Kundan Meena. Making the show theme-based enables the event to get publicity mileage in India and abroad. According to the JJS Secretary, Rajiv Jain, the selection of theme highlights the speciality of Jaipur and provides a platform for national and international marketing. He further said that Jaipur’s contribution has been immense in promoting diamond jewellery. He further added that with diamond as the theme the buyers of Jaipur’s diamond jewelry are able to purchase the products at a reasonable rate. The media coordinator of JJS, Ajay Kala said that even in the past editions of JJS diamond jewelry has showed its popularity. Jaipur’s manu-cutting in white and yellow gold has been appreciated. The promotion coordinator, Dr. Nawal Agarwal informed that the JJS’s Diamond Promotion Group, which is promoting the product at national level has also organized a diamond festival prior to the JJS. This festival received very good response from buyers and customers of diamond jewellery. The JJS Indian Jeweller’s Choice Awards will be announced during inauguration of the JJS, at a gala awards ceremony at Hotel Marriot. Convenor Surana said these awards would be given away to the best of the 350 entries from across 25 product categories.“The presenting partner for the second edition of these awards is the JJS and it is powered by Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The JJS is one of the most looked forward events on the jewelry calendar. Combining the advantages of both B2B and B2C shows, the event attracts trade visitors as well as consumers in large numbers from across the country,” Rajiv Jain said. The Indian Jeweller magazine has fast grown into becoming the mirror of the jewelry industry of the country. Last year it launched the design awards in Mumbai which was well appreciated by the trade. These awards are an initiative towards providing the jewelry industry with a platform to bring to the forefront jewelry manufacturers and designers even from remote areas of the country.“This one-of-its-kind jewelry awards felicitate outstanding talent in designing and manufacturing. For this award, designs of various contesting manufacturers and designers from across the country are chosen by thousands of retailers,” Ajay Kala said. This year, the design contest began in July2012 and spanned over five months. Around10,000 votes were cast by retailers, Rajiv Jain added.

Press Release : 10th JAIPUR JEWELLERY SHOW (2012)

Press conference 14th December

GENESIS AND VISION

The city of Jaipur, clichéd as the Pink City has qualities galore. One of them is the strong tradition in lapidary (processing and cutting of gems), and now fast becoming a household name for exquisite jewellery. The growth of the city in terms of infrastructure, influx of tourists, new hotels and restaurants, all indicate a city in the making of a metro.

It was in this context that a small step was confidently taken to give a further fillip to the city by launching the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) 2003. The vision was clear: giving an impetus to the Gems and Jewellery trade; placing Jaipur on the World Gem & Jewllery Map. Come to think of it such an exposition in Jaipur was long overdue as the city has a rich legacy of Gems and Jewellery trade. Furthermore, the other cities like Mumbai had already made strides in this direction.

The humble beginning with 67 stalls at Entertainment Paradise (EP) saw an encouraging response, interaction and zeal. Small wonder than that the 2004 JJS witnessed a quantum leap to 189 booths. There has been no looking back since then. In 2005, the venue was shifted to the Rajmahal Palace, with as many as 276 stalls. This venue provided greater space and facilities to the exhibitors, other participants and visitors. In 2006 the booths saw an impressive increase to 308; 354 in 2007; 357 in 2008, 372 booths in 2009; 413 booths in 2010; 451 in 2011. This year too the ambience of the Rajmahal Palace is the venue with as many as 464 booths, fully booked. Furthermore, there is a waiting list for 72 booths. What is particularly gratifying for us at the JJS is the fact that 85 percent of the exhibitors are repeat participants. It amply reflects the fact that there has been a high degree of satisfaction for the exhibitors and participants. One advantage of having Rajmahal as the venue for the event is the fact that it is located right in the heart of the city. Plus the entire event is on the ground floor. The manner in which the stall owners show their creativity in creating highly impressive stalls is amazing. Incredibly, as many as 65 percent of the stall owners (159-Raw Space, 296-Built-up-(shell)) are innovative enough to get their stalls designed and created reflecting their faith in JJS. And with each year the show has only grown from strength to strength.

The December show, as it is popularly known, has become an important event what with over 30,000 visitors coming for the event. Over 3500 online registrations from out of Jaipur have also been done.

A COMPLETE SHOW:

This year too the JJS will be a complete show what with stones, gems, diamonds, colour stones, precious metals- silver, gold, , base metals-carving and beads being showcased and marketed. The exposition will also cover jewellers gemstone dealers and jewellery institutes, publications, machinery and tools apart from others. The top retailers of India have already confirmed their participation in the show. And it is indeed heartening that this not-for-profit event is ploughing back funds for promoting the trade.

FACILITATION:

The visitors will have to park at the Central Park. Free shuttle service will be available from the Central Park to the venue and back. The participants will once again be able to enjoy the gastronomic delights at the complimentary lunch which has been much appreciated over the years.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) will make a presentation on ‘Synthetic (Lab Grown) Diamonds’. Mr. Prashant Bhojani of Rapaport will talk on ‘Where did my margins go, and how do I get them back’.  The presentation on “Future Trend Visioning” will be presented by National Institute of Designing (NID).

FOCUS ON NEW TRENDS IN JEWELLERY

One special features of the Jaipur Jewellery Show 2012 will be the focus on the latest designs, new settings of jewellery. People will get to see the latest in fashion from traditional heavy gold ornaments to light weight jewellery. Those who are looking for fashion accessory and stone studded jewellery will also not be disappointed. Yellow gold ornaments are expected to be in great demand as will be ornaments with traditional and oriental look with fancy cut gemstones. Kundan Meena Jewellery is expected to be the highlighted again this year. Many items of jewellery will be affordable as well.

WHY JAIPUR?

The reason why the fabled Pink City has been chosen to be the venue for JJS is the incontrovertible fact that it happens to be a G&J City. Jaipur has a rich tradition, as old as city’s history itself, of the exquisite art of jewellery and gem-stones. Little wonder that in a short span of eight years, JJS has become an important annual fixture of a happening city called Jaipur. People now look forward to it.

It would not be out of place to mention that some of the top companies in the country are making a beeline for the ochre-pink city for having international conventions, conclaves, symposiums, seminars and workshops. And when the city also happens to be a tourist / shopping destination, it sure is an added advantage. The city has come into its own as a convention / business centre par excellence.
